May 2009 - I spent a bit of time on this one - firstly sourcing a design that I liked (and of course the birthday girl liked) and looking for decorations. The only stipulation I was given was that it was colourful to fit in with the Circus Carnival theme. I found these gorgeous 3D Clown Cupcake Picks on Ebay, and the wonderful Circus Animal Candles from a local kitchen shop. The cake itself was made from a 20cm round pan for the base and a 22cm pudding bowl for the top - trimmed down. A butter cream icing in Pillar Box Red covered the cake and then the white stripes and Yellow trim for the Roof Top and Door were made from Fondant Icing. The Stars were also made from fondant and coloured with gold / yellow shimmer dust. The top Stars were sourced from a local Yandina Ebay Seller as well - these were left overs from previous designs (Gotta love stuff that keeps forever in vacuum sealed boxes!!). Anyways, along the way was a little hiccup - my 3yo planting her hands into the uniced cupcakes which meant at the 11th hour we were back to baking - and that was after raiding the neighbours for eggs LOL. Talk about cutting it fine - and of course daughter #2 had a party to go to in between delivery! The look on Mo's face was worth it all. And lets hope that with all the little business cards that I slipped into the single cupcake boxes for kids to take home that I drum up even more business!!! OOh it is becoming very exciting.
